Abiriba Autonomous Community was tagged Nigeria’s “Small London” by the great Zik of Africa in the 50s when he paid a visit there during one of his many campaign trips to the place. Abiriba is in Ohafia Local Government Area in Abia State, indeed the community is a master class infrastructural wise and you can tell that as a community, it is a place to behold, the beautiful and well planned structures. It is one of the most beautiful place in Nigeria rich in culture , way of life and tradition.
Visiting Abiriba , you will always see an amazing things , and among others are also guest house that visitors can lodge as well as Hotel and Suites. Call the Abiriba people the smartest igbo people, They invest in their homeland to the standard of self sufficiency.
During the celebration months, from the very entrance into the community, one could sense that the day was not just an ordinary day in the ancient kingdom as celebration are very visible in the air. Dancing groups could be seen along the road as they marched to stadium to witness the celebration. Masquerades of all sizes, shapes and colour are also seen being led along the streets.
Perhaps, one of the most visible signs that it was a great day in Abiriba was the movement of dignitaries in exotic cars and long convoys, beautiful dressing and attires , It was indeed a great day for Abiriba people as dignitaries from the state and beyond poured into the kingdom to celebrate.
“Great kingdom, Great People, Our collective strength is our might”
Some non indigenes were also honoured, and most of the dignitaries who flooded the kingdom were also allies, colleagues and business associates of some of those who were being honoured, and they were in the kingdom to felicitate with their friends.
